Flood Damage Avoided & Vulnerability Reduced
One of the most important aims of any local flood hazard management program is to avoid damage from future floods. The achievement of this goal is often hard to measure—until a flood strikes. Many CRS communities have found evidence of the difference between “what might have been” after a flood and what really transpired when CRS-credited protection measures were in place. Others realize that, even though that future flood has not yet arrived, their building stock and critical facilities are better protected, so there will be less damage when it does.
